Roots are missing voices and defined lips to shape their lives

2023

The tower, tarot arcana n°16 represents the search for truth through concrete and material experience. This card heralds a change. Teleported in an inbetween world, a liminal space, the main character asks herself questions about her identities. Here I Unfold you a story where an alter-ego of myself is stuck in an in-between space. From this new reached place, she questions her sense of self, her identity, her belonging and the feeling of being uprooted. This off space could also be the place where she could build her own identity, out of the others’ gaze. The notion of broken identities is something I encounter in my daily life, trying to understand my roots and how entangled histories are shaping the world and at the same time, splitting beings, creating a feeling to run after a disillusion which is part of my identities. On a personal level, this piece is about my apprehension of being stuck and defined by others’ gaze, my questions around identity and land belonging. These reflections have a real impact on my relationship with my surroundings trying to channel with my environment. I try to explore my inner thoughts and how they are influenced by the outer and opposite exploring the notion of intergenerational trauma shaped into a new mystical reality.

Currently in Master at the Media art studio departement at KASK and Conservatorium Gent, I am developping an Intermedia practice. Through the shapes I’m creating, my aim is to redraw unworldly spaces where I can release and act out by reshaping stories and modeling my own substantiality. Lately, I curated the group exhibition To Undiscovered Lands in Gent, took part to Metaverscity curated by Marc Veyrat, Khaldoun Zreik in partnership with Aegean & Paris 8 Universities in Ermoupolis, Greece.
