Sobre galinhas e ovos

The patriarchal system, understood as a structuring social organization of the capitalist system, reinforces the use of the erotic at the service of male power. Women are taught to disassociate eroticism from all vital demands in their lives, except sex. But the erotic concerns the intensity and completeness of what we do and not what we do per se. By ignoring the use of the erotic in our productions, in the development and maintenance of our own power, in our own interaction with life and other people, we objectify ourselves and the other women around us. We move away from the satisfaction of creation, from the celebration of collectivity among women and from the realization of the erotic as its own power. Inspired by Audre Lorde’s conception of the power of the erotic, the audiovisual poetry “About chickens and eggs” establishes a dialogue – somewhat mocking – with patriarchy and the masculine. After all, who was born first? And it combines the written text of the video description, with the scenic sound of the narration and images in which the artist unpretentiously plays with her daughter, in a moment of complicity and sisterhood.
