Un Ojo se mira a sí mismo

2022

Un ojo se mira a sí sí mismo (an Eye looking at itself) is a visual poem that reflects on the supremacy of images and their capacity to generate non-lived experiences, a phenomenon that is not exclusive to the digital ecosystem but that has found almost total power through it. This piece questions the very nature of perception, and the capacity of images to replace experiences and expand, but also reduce, our life path. Digital images disturb us because, with their almost perfect imitation of perception, sometimes even surpassing its human possibilities, they teach us the limits and the social structure that permeates perception, which we consider natural even though it is a construct that has changed over time. That is the strength of the digital, and also its oppressive potential: that it can teach us to see beyond, or that it can continue to domesticate the gaze until it forgets itself.
