NO IA ON AI
2025
This video poem addresses AI based on Sherry Turkle’s 1997 book, “Life on the Screen.” Selected phrases are read aloud to rethink concepts associated with machines, learning, authorship, and the appropriation of knowledge, texts, and works. The resources used are free downloadable software and certain rather crude and precarious “effects” in the editing of images and sounds. Several video fragments were taken from cable TV during periods of poor signal, causing a glitch on the screen. The altered voice sounds metallic and reverberant, alluding to robotics and the “romantic machines” proposed in the text.
AI Context
Based on a text about AI found in a 1997 book, selected fragments are read and combined with videos. It refers back to the early inquiries into AI and makes use of some free but rather rudimentary resources.
