CAPTAS City

2023

People dressed in yellow capes were everywhere, wandering through busy streets, chasing anonymous individuals on their cell phones. This is the artwork CAPTAS, a mobile urban intervention by Fabio FON and Soraya Braz, carried out from 2009 to 2011 in the Brazilian cities of Natal (RN), Brasília (DF), São Paulo (SP), and São Carlos (SP). In 2023, the peculiar yellow capes resurface in CAPTAS city, a virtual environment constructed from documentation of this work. The images, predominantly captured in urban spaces, at times transcend into the virtually created landscape, featuring concrete, staircases, avenues, etc., and at other times are recombined into kaleidoscopic compositions that invite visitors to take a fresh look at the memory of this artwork.
