“Trocando figurinhas: instruções” (“swapping stickers: instructions”, 2022) presents a series of instructions for the development of a visual conversation, mediated by free online tools. The dynamic, performed since 2020 by the artist duo Gabriel Pessoto and Nicole Kouts, was formatted in text in 2022 and is part of the publication “Trocando Figurinhas: 001 – 500”. The launch was a milestone of the first 500 days of the project which, in the year 2023, has completed more than 1000 days. In the registered link, it is possible to access the instructions and put them into practice and/or follow the daily action developed on the same website. The visual dialogue starts from the formation of a duo that will create a platform where images will be selected, numbered and posted, sequentially, once a day. Interspersing the posts, the parts of the duo undertake to respond to the previous post, an image, based on another image. The nature of this visual conversation, without a set deadline, can cross different resources: visual rhymes, formal approximations, contrasts and speeches. The work discusses possibilities of creating meanings and exchanges from digital tools and interfaces, expanding the understanding of conversation and writing from the management of repertoires and personal memories mediated by online navigation.

“Trocando figurinhas” is a project developed by Gabriel Pessoto and Nicole Kouts. The duo emerged when an art residency program (Temos Vagas!, Ateliê397), where we were studio neighbors, was interrupted due to the spreading of the pandemic. Since we noticed dialogues between our researches and creative processes, we decided to work remotely on our blog and develop ramifications of the project in the fields of video, image editing, visual collections and digital correspondences.
