The MGK-TV series showcases an unusual television programming of uncertain origin, intercepted and transmitted through a tube TV, MGK-TV. Its schedule follows an erratic rhythm, with transmissions based on interferences. The content is a kaleidoscopic and diffuse soup of references from pop culture, art, horror cinema, daily confessions, networking, screen addiction, algorithmic activity, artificial intelligence, and more-than-human beings. The images are captured in slow motion, and the sounds range from guttural noises to whistles, keystrokes, bone cracks, and saliva, the further they stray from our easily perceptible repertoire, perhaps drawing closer to our inner circuit – generally inaudible to us but already intimate to machines and their prompts. The artist duo 100% (a creative collective/filmmakers from the room/members of a corporate fiction/pirate broadcasters/unsupported film production company, etc.) creates, as customary in their practices, a long and uninterrupted laboratory of fabrication. In the case of MGK-TV, over the course of 6 months, from October 2021 to March 2022, the artists engage performatically and aesthetically with the TV apparatus, its “televised” metamorphoses, and cognitive and cultural impacts, embodying the process in an ongoing series of fiction, a progressively denser amalgamation of interpretative possibilities that traverse and expand the artists’ daily experience as the practice of producing/watching TV transmissions deepens.
